The School of Psychology at the University of Southampton is seeking to appoint a clinician for 3 days a week (one of which must be a Monday) to support education and research across our Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Dclin).

The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme at the University of Southampton are committed to the scientist-practitioner model, are firmly rooted in the core values of the NHS Constitution and have over 30 years' experience in clinical training in partnership with our local NHS Trusts and related organisations. Two different employment pathways are available: education-led or balanced across research and education. About Us

The Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is world-renowned for its progressive research in the field of child and adolescent mental health.

In 2025, the Department will be moving to the newly built Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People (PMC). The PMC has been developed by the King’s Maudsley Partnership for Children and Young People – a partnership between King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and Maudsley Charity. The Centre’s aim is to reduce the rate and impact of child mental health through world-leading research and its speedy translation into clinical care. This will be achieved through the co-location of clinical and academic teams to ensure that clinically relevant research is translated into novel preventions and treatments to benefit young people.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior research associate to work on establishing fNIRS research at the IoPPN within the PMC/CAP as well as in other departments. The Researcher will be based in KCL, London and work closely with Prof Rubia but will be assisting several teams at PMC/IoPPN/KCL that will use fNIRS technology.

The aim of the post-holder is to provide his/her expertise in fNIRS imaging acquisition, analysis and interpretation to any teams at PMC and IoPPN/KCL that will use this technology.

The post-holder will be therefore working on different projects across different psychiatric and neurological disorders, as needed. He/she will be teaching and/or assisting researchers in fNIRS imaging acquisition, data analysis and interpretation and will be involved both in grant applications and paper writing. They will have ample experience in fNIRS technology, both in the technical as well as interpretational aspects. They will be experts of fNIRS technology through a PHD and post-doctoral experience and ideally have some experience of multimodal neuroimaging.

The candidate will be open to work on different research areas and in a range of pediatric and adult mental health disorders.

The candidate will aid IOPPN/KCL in establishing fNIRS technology for exciting cutting-edge projects of either unimodal or multimodal neuroimaging and projects that combine fNIRS with neuromodulation.

You will be offered a full time (35 hours per week) fixed term contract until March 2027.

The Department of Psychology is seeking to recruit Lecturers who have demonstrable research quality, with international reach, and the ability to contribute to teaching in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes while advancing our research and teaching portfolio. Research in the department occurs across more than six major subdisciplines in psychology, including clinical, cognitive, developmental, environmental, health, and social and the department is looking to recruit a candidate with expertise in these areas.

We welcome candidates with research strengths in any relevant area of psychology that fit with our key areas of research. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates who complement our research in the following areas of psychology: Addiction, Autism (with a child/youth focus), Digital applications (e.g., Artificial Intelligence), Environmental Psychology, Pain Psychology, and Youth Mental Health.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare and deliver teaching on the department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This will include developing the teaching material, delivery of lectures, seminars and tutorials.
  • Alongside the supervision, assessment and marking of coursework and research dissertations, you will provide advice and support to students, as well as undertake teaching-related management and administration duties.

Research Nurse, Mental Health - NHS

A highly motivated registered Mental Health nurse is sought to join our Research & Innovation Service at Mersey Care. The postholder will have a specialist knowledge in research and/ or clinical practice enabling the post holder to work independently e.g. either previous experience as a clinical research nurse and/or demonstrable knowledge of Psychosis and Early Intervention services.

As part of the Research & Innovation (R&I) service and working closely with the Research and Development (R&D) team the post holder will contribute to the efficient set up and delivery of research in our Early Intervention Service.

The post holder will be working with senior nurses and multidisciplinary teams within the Trust as well as the wider research teams assisting with the management of a caseload of clinical studies patients.

The post will assess and carry out clinical procedures for patients/ participants and will be considered part of the clinical team. Implementing a programme of care, providing advice and will maintain records within various settings.

Main duties of the job

1. Working autonomously to assist in the management of a caseload of clinical trial patients, whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professionals to ensure high quality service delivery.

2. Supporting Early intervention teams with assessment of new service users.

3. Manage and oversee a portfolio of research studies in various disease sites.

4. Training and assessing research staff as competent in line with the research competencies framework.

5. Identifying suitable patients for entry into clinical studies by attending clinics (screening notes) and relevant Multi-disciplinary Team meetings. Use relevant clinical knowledge to identify patients suitable for clinical research using inclusion and exclusion criteria and utilising NHS records, visiting wards and outpatients.

6. Act as a resource and role model for all aspects of research clinical practice in order to optimise patient care and clinical practice.

7. Carry out physical assessments, taking blood/urine samples and processing according to protocol.

8. Ensure the environment is suitable for patient care and research processes, recognising the importance of privacy, dignity and diversity.

Central Project Coordinator (Yangon and Naypyitaw)

Central Project Coordinator works under the overall supervision of the WHO Representative in Myanmar, the technical guidance of the Medical Officer (HIV & Hepatitis) in collaboration with the National AIDS Programme and Drug Dependency Treatment and Research Unit of Ministry of Health.

Duty Station : Naypyitaw (MoH Premises)

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. In close collaboration with the National AIDS Program Manager, assist respective focals (ART/Methadone/PMCT/TCP/M&E), in planning of yearly GF budget, commodity quantification and forecasting as well as drafting quarterly work plan and procurement process in collaboration with PR

2. Support to organize central level meetings and trainings and provide technical assistance to facilitate the meetings/trainings. Assist for planning and management of GFATM-HIV activities of each component and keep tract of programme implementation and progress on procurement and supply management

3. Assist in facilitating that all sites for ART / Methadone / PMCT / TCP have timely reporting and ensuring the quality of the reported data. Maintain central level database and keep track of program reports. Assist to prepare GF quarterly reports of NAP

4. Provide technical support to field offices in implementing activities, monitoring and reporting on a regular basis. Conduct field visits to Field Offices and townships if necessary

5. Assist NAP in coordination between PR, UN, other INGOs and NGOs. Regular communication to WHO/UN to give information on progress of GFATM activities and implementation

6. Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Work Relations and Partnerships:

The Central Project Coordinator provides technical support to National AIDS Programme and Drug Dependency Treatment and Research Unit. He/she needs to coordinate with focal from MoHS, UN agencies, development partners, and implementing partners. He/she works together with Field project Coordinator/Field Assistant/Data Assistant of respective state/region and M&E team/Logistic team from central as a team. He/she works as a part of WHO HIV-AIDS team in achieving goals of National Strategic Plan of HIV in collaboration with different stakeholders working on HIV/AIDS.
